Master Listing: Notes on Castaneda Sunday Sessions
We have now added a Master Listing of Notes to the Castaneda Sunday Sessions here.
The new page provides links to all 13 of the 61 Sunday Sessions that are now up on the site. Those notes have also been revamped with subheadings, jump links and a table of contents so they are easier to navigate and find key topics. External links and photos to some of the topics discussed have also been added.
Sunday Group Background
As explained on the new Master Listing, the Castaneda Sunday Group began with a two-hour meeting with Castaneda on September 10, 1995, to which more than forty people who had attended the three-week August intensive that year received telephone invitations from Kylie Lundahl. These sessions then continued, primarily on Sundays, with a number of gaps and both major and minor changes in the invitation list (which was made up primarily, but not exclusively, of Los Angeles residents), until the last session on May 11, 1997. I have notes on 60 of these sessions, which I am gradually adding to this site.
Castaneda had convened small groups to lecture to and practice movements with several times, starting in the late 1980s. While some of his core group members came from those groups–like Bruce Wagner and Zaia Alexander–none of them lasted more than a few months. The Sunday Sessions were significant, then, in that they lasted for almost two years, and became not only a funnel of new people into Castaneda’s inner circle, but also a place for him to try out new material, instruct on techniques never mentioned in the books, and to get feedback from us on what we were experiencing as a result of using his techniques and following his advice.
Castaneda used to tell us the group was his “bulwark” and was somehow keeping him going. At any rate, for those interested in the Castaneda phenomenon and his legacy, the notes on these session contain valuable clues as well as techniques that may be worthy of trying.
